bisou bisou
Bisou-Bisou clothing is very fitted and many items are made with materials
that stretch considerably. You might want to order items a little larger than
your known size. Bisou clothing is cut to match French sizing standards and
tends to be very form fitting. Please pay special attention to the sizing
charts. Ordering up one size is recommended.
While living in Paris in the 1980's, Michele Bohbot owned a
small chain of designer boutiques. In addition to creating and executing
her merchandising vision for her stores, Michele created her own designs
which she sold to several fashion houses.
Inspired by the environment in her stores, she created a small knit collection
whose base fabric of Lycra laid the foundation for the birth of Bisou-Bisou.
In 1986 Michele and her husband Marc, moved their family from Paris to Los
Angeles.
"Michele fell in love with LA when visiting here for
our honeymoon," remembers Marc Bohbot, the Chief Executive Officer of
Bisou-Bisou, "She knew this is where she wanted to be". At that
time, denim dominated the apparel industry.
Marc and Michele began their careers in the States with a
French license in denim, but shortly after Michele decided to follow a design
dream of her own. She had extensive experience in merchandising from her years
in France, but she knew she needed something more: an edge over what was
already in America.
Michele's first collection used a combination of fabrics
and styling unique to the contemporary market. Under the name "Bisou-Bisou"
(translated as "a little kiss"), the collection of
"Slinky" and "Stretch Lace" enjoyed great success and
brought Michele's vision of "Paris Street Fashion" to the United
States.
